In January 2025, we participated in a staff training program of the Makassar Water Supply Public Corporation held in Makassar City through JICA grassroots technical cooperation conducted by Kawasaki City, and presented our leak investigation technology services.
Makassar is the central city of Sulawesi Island, 1,400 kilometers east of Jakarta, with a population of about 1.5 million. It is called the gateway of East Indonesia.
Makassar City has a non-revenue water rate of 48% and only 70% of water supply services.
We introduced our technologies, know-how, and overseas achievements not only the staff training program but also in consultations with the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, Makassar Water Supply Public Corporation, and other water supply public corporation in surrounding municipalities, as well as local companies involved in the water supply business.
The participants, who were struggling with water leakage, were highly interested and there were requests from the public corporations and local companies to conduct training on measures against non-revenue water.
We will consider the feasibility of a non-revenue water countermeasure project in Makassar.
